Conowingo Trip Report Dec. 12, 2019

Six cold hardy members of Sussex Bird Club met at the Lowes parking lot in Lewes about 8 AM then headed to Conowingo Dam for the eagle show. We arrived about 10:30 AM to several eagles flying around over the river. We dressed for the cold weather and made our way to the landing at the base of the dam. Kevin estimated that $1M in camera equipment was on display along the River leading to the dam. We observed the eagles, about 15 at a maximum, and hundreds of black vultures for about an hour and a half then made our way to Woody’s Crab House in Northeast, MD for lunch on the trip home. One car stopped at Prime Hook on the way down and observed the continuing short-eared owls. The checklist for the Conowingo part of the trip is:
